Position Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for the successful execution of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This includes oversight of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, subcontractor management, safety compliance, and quality control. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and clients to ensure each phase of the project meets our exacting standards.
This is a highly visible role, reporting to the Director of Construction and working closely with project executives and field teams. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive complex projects forward.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight & Execution
Manage all phases of construction projects from site preparation through final handover
Oversee subcontractor selection, negotiation, and coordination
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using tools like MS Project or Primavera
Track project costs and ensure adherence to approved budgets
Identify and resolve construction issues and delays in real time
Team Leadership
Lead on-site personnel, foremen, and subcontractor teams with clear direction and accountability
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Provide regular feedback, performance management, and team development support
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary on-site liaison with clients, owners, architects, and consultants
Lead regular construction meetings, issue progress updates, and address project concerns
Ensure clear documentation of RFIs, change orders, punch lists, and inspections
Compliance & Quality Control
Enforce all job site safety policies in accordance with OSHA regulations
Conduct regular quality checks and ensure work complies with design and regulatory standards
Coordinate with inspectors and obtain necessary permits and approvals
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
Minimum 5–8 years of experience in construction project management
Excellent knowledge of local and state building codes, permitting, and inspection processes
Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam)
Preferred Qualifications
LEED certification or experience in sustainable building practices
PMP or CCM certification
OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification
Experience working on public works or union projects (if applicable)
Compensation & Benefits
Average Base Salary in California:
$120,000 – $135,000/year (based on experience and project portfolio)
Higher salaries available for candidates with public works experience or high-rise/commercial expertise
