Position Title: Firefighter / Paramedic
Salary Information: Starting salary can be based on FULL TIME fire department experience:
Entry level - $66,514.53
11 Paid Holidays paid every November ($2300-$4,800)
FF/PM Lateral experience -
1-2 years of experience - $78,880.98
2+ years of FULL TIME FF/PM experience - $85,901.38

Department Overview
The department is comprised of (25) career fire personnel. Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, (3) Captains, (3) Lieutenants and FF/PM's. Some are assigned to the Haz Mat team, Technical Rescue and Arson team. The department averages 3500 emergency runs per year. (6) minimum is the daily shift staffing. The engine responds auto-aid to neighboring departments like Maywood, Hillside, North Riverside and Bellwood.
Additional Preference Points given for Proviso Township residency (proof of the last 12 months), BOF, Paramedic
2024 Pierce Rescue Pumper in service 12/24 - Osage Ambulance to be delivered 2025

Prior Experience: Not required, Starting salary can be based on full-time Firefighter/Paramedic experience
Academy Certification: Must be certified as an EMT-Paramedic at time of hire. (Should be enrolled in Paramedic school with a letter from your program director at time of exam).
Necessary Certifications: Must be age 21 & licensed paramedic at time of hire. CPAT card with ladder certification valid within six (6) months of hire date
Additional Requirements: Submit proof of full time Firefighter Paramedic experience if applicable. Out of state full time firefighters will be sent to the fire academy, then will receive experienced based salary increase accordingly. Military DD214 (if applicable)
Hiring Process:
Pass the NTN examination with a score of 70 or higher.
Complete a virtual oral interview through NTN
Pass a thorough background investigation
Pass a psychological assessment, medical screening, and drug screening. (Details to schedule appointments will be provided to candidates from the Village of Broadview Board of Fire and Police Commissioners)
Successfully complete the Illinois Firefighter Basic Operations Course if applicable
