Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming atmosphere by greeting customers upon entry
- Efficiently process customer transactions, including cash, checks, and credit/debit cards
- Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide product information
- Maintain accurate cash register balances and process returns/exchanges in accordance with company policy
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment
- Collaborate with fellow retail associates to ensure proper coverage during breaks and lunches
- Support all Garden Center departments with daily tasks and projects during slow periods or winter season
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Successful completion of on-the-job training
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service skills and ability to operate cash registers, calculators, and scanners
- Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and providing refunds
- Familiarity with company products, services, and customer-related policies
Additional Requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and work on cash register or related equipment
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and perform repetitive movements over extended periods
- Team player with strong multitasking and detail-oriented abilities
- Must be at least 18 years old and maintain a dependable attendance record
