Temporary Accounting Assistant - Accounts Payable

Start Date: early February 2026 (15 weeks)

The Position

Holderness School is seeking a part-time Temporary Accounting Assistant to support the Business Office with Accounts Payable tasks during a leave of absence. This on-campus position starts in early February and will last approximately 15 weeks , involves close collaboration with Business Office staff, and averages about 20 hours per week, with some scheduling flexibility based on departmental needs.

Primary Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Business Office team, the Temporary Accounting Assistant will:

  • Assist with processing vendor invoices for payment, credit card payments and employee reimbursement requests in RAMP.
  • Research uncashed Accounts Payable checks to determine whether reissue is needed.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems related to AP disbursements.
  • Update and maintain expense-tracking spreadsheets.
  • Assist with distributing team meal money.
  • Provide general administrative and accounting support to the Business Office as needed.

This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established procedures.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience or interest in accounting, finance, business operations, or administrative support.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfort using spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with appropriate guidance.

Employment Details

  • Temporary, part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week).
  • On-campus, in-person role.
  • Expected duration of about 15 weeks.
  • Schedule and hours determined by Business Office needs, with some flexibility.
